Becky (above right) is really an artist who as a child was inspired by cult/pulp movies, music and art. She grew up in an actual theatre where her family worked. A long time was spent watching the ladies transform themselves into foreign, weird and wonderful beings through make-up and costume. Then watching the spectacle come together on stage. From this she went on to choose art as her main focus of study, from A Levels through to Masters.

 

Most of her time was spent working on figurative drawing/painting and some character design. Then after, she worked with a designer in India illustrating garments.

 

Upon her return she was offered a chance to work at MAC cosmetics. That opened to a whole new world that has stuck ever since. Shortly after starting she was trained up as a make-up artist. Even though she's fairly new to makeup, it feels familiar as she is a painter.  It’s just like working on a three dimensional ‘breathing’ canvas.

 

As an artist, the multi-talented Serge Luten is her main inspiration  with his beautiful photographs men and women transformed into works of art through make-up and costume, as well as other MUA’s like Val Garland, Richard Sahara, Alex Box etc, followed by illustrators such as Tony Viramontes, Peter Sato, Yoshitaka Amano, Richard Grey and many more.

 

 

“Even If I can achieve even just a fraction of what these people have as an artist, I’ll be more then happy” said Becky.
