Blogs Are Best
Blog v Social Network Sites
Blogs seem more personal. A labour of love. You can indulge yourself with not only photos of yourself and family but your favourite things. You can focus on one favourite subject - a bit like writing a book or an essay. A school project if you like. Or you can cover bits and pieces as and when you like. Add a few graphics there are loads of sites.
Perez Hilton, celebrity blogger, top tips for starting your own Blog:
1. Be specific. Is it for fun or do you hope it will turn into a part or full-time job? make it interesting or you won't get any traffic. To make money write about something your passionate about.
2. Put in the hours and take it seriously.
3. You don't have to be a computer expert. Folks want content. Start with blogger.com. That easy!
4. Now for your USP - unique selling point. If you want traffic don't copy everyone else.
5. Don't worry about getting it perfect, grammatically correct or funny - the idea is content and quick as humanly possible. Of course you can always go back to a page and add or subtract.
6. Remember photo are copyright protected and if you're making money from your Blog - someone is going to ask you to pay for the photo! If not a pay site they may ask you to take it down.
7. Be a sociable Blogger. Comment on other people sites and thank people for their comments on yours. Twitter is a great way to remind folks to view your latest blog stories!
Take a photo of yourself before you go out or while your at your party or event. Then take the time to write about all the elements of your evening. Remember when we used to write a journal? For example:
Last night (Friday April 23rd 2010) Paul and I went to dinner at the beautiful home of D&S. They live just south of the Thames by Tower Bridge with a view of the river. However, it's on an inlet, a quay. It's where Charles Dickens set one of his scenes in the tales of Oliver Twist. My friend told me they often see a seal who sits on one of the pontoons under their window. The building they live in was an old flour factory originally but has now been converted into gorgeous apartments. The foyer is beautiful, art deco inspired with huge columns and original marble floor. Their flat was something straight out of an Ideal Homes magazine. When they moved in they hired an interior designer as they couldn't decide between them. A mixture of antique family pieces and ethnic items form their own personal flavour. The rest is pure designer - very boutique hotel. Gorgeous.
A gin & tonic started the night and carried me along too. If I get a taste for something I stick to it. Dinner was perfect. Marinated pork shish kebabs for starters. Then an expertly cooked Thai ensemble for main. Squid with aubergine was my favourite. Perfectly cooked squid and spicy hot. There were also a prawn, chicken and beef dishes. Bok choy for me and rice for the others. Key lime pie and cream for afters. Yum yum. We rolled home :)
